The Mattes Crescent shape is suitable for short backed/wider bodied horses, and helps stop the girth from being pushed forward. This ensures the saddle remains behind the shoulder and elbow, which assists in eliminating galling. The buckles are elasticised with a small amount of "give" to allow the horse to be comfortable and avoid over-tightening the girth.
